Simplifying life

I  don't usually make New Year resolutions, but I've been thinking about how I frequently set too many really high standards for myself. When I frequently don't meet them, I feel guilty and cross. So my new life resolution is.

Simplify.

Make things easier, take off the pressure, cherish the moment and take pleasure in  small things. 'Be' in the present, spend time with loved ones and don't see time not working as 'wasted'. Do the best possible, but keep things achievable. Appreciate life,  be grateful and thankful. Use less. Keep it simple.

That includes you, my kind readers. You'll note some changes going on here as 2013 begins,  I think it's going to be fun.

A very, very happy, healthy and peaceful New Year to  you all.x

  3. Happy New Year to you, too, Jules and I heartily agree with your sentiments! Thankyou for being with us yesterday, it was lovely to have the family (or almost all of it) together, added greatly to my enjoyment.

  4. I heartily agree, Jules. In fact, I've sort of been in this state of mind since before Christmas, and as a result, I had one of the most enjoyable, relaxing Christmases I can remember. Why do we put so much pressure on ourselves? Happy New Year to you :)

  5. Makes sense! A goal should always be achievable - even if it is a challenge at times. Setting them too high dooms one to failure from the outset!

I managed to complete 65 of the goals I set out to do in 2011/2, with up to 75% overall completion. Considering how much time I spend ill, I'm quite content with that.=)

  11. Dear Jules, I can't tell you how much your post made me smile, you sound just like me! I have made exactly the same promise to myself this year as i too set ridiculous standards too and am fed up with feeling cross with myself when i can't meet them. Here's to a year of calm & being in the present, Yay. Happy New Year to you x x
