Crochet:Sweetie Blanket Edging Pattern

Autumn's truly here. With another new arrival due in our family this winter I  thought I'd better get hooking and finish off this blanket, which I actually began back in the spring. Ooops.

The very cuddly Cinnamon Bear is our model today - demonstrating the snuggliness factor of this comfy little number.

Although this yarn is 100% acrylic, it's so soft (Stylecraft Special) and the colours are gorgeous.

The blanket is simple, (I can't do complicated these days) Four smaller granny squares are joined with white to make up the centre, then grannies all the way round in a rainbow of colour, interspersed with more white, to the required size. If anyone wants the actual row detail and colours used just let me know.

I finished with my favourite crochet edging. It's fun to do, and works up quickly. I don't know what it's called and there are probably lots of other ways to do it out there, but this is my version!
Depending how many stitches on your project, you'll have to to adjust it slightly.
First, dc (US sc) evenly all around your completed project at least twice to give a foundation for your border stitchesI've just done one here for my demonstration.
To do the edging:

Make 3 chain to begin.

* Miss 2 stitches, and make a tr (US dc) into the third stitch

Then make three tr (dc) around this stitch, which acts as your 'post'. One......

two...
 three!*

That's it. Repeat the pattern, * to *  around your blanket.

It makes a very pretty edging, but also looks smart if you use a darker colour, like the one I made for little Charlie a while ago.x
