“The most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched, they must be felt with the heart.”

Words on Sunday
One of the very first poems I ever learnt when I was very small was this one, from A.A Milne's compendium, 'When We Were Very Young'. My big brother is called John and it reminds me of him! With the constant downpours we're getting in the UK, I thought it might be appropriate for this week. The illustrations, by E. H Shepard, are fabulous.
That is so wonderful Jules, I had never heart that poem before and the illustrations are precious. Stay dry! Deb
ReplyDeleteI too have a brother called John and yes a lover of A A Milne, l also have his now we are six book and now we are sixty which is a play on the 6 one. Must have another read.
ReplyDeleteI remember being all dressed up in a Great Big Mackintosh when I was small, but I don't think I realised I was taking fashion notes from Winnie-The-Pooh!
ReplyDeleteI still love to walk/play in the rain :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful poem - perfect for this time of year too :)
ReplyDeleteI can categorically state that in all the time that my sister has known me, I have NEVER owned/worn a "Great Big Waterproof Hat".

Jules, I used to read this poem to my sons and we all loved it. That was a long time ago: they are now 48 and 46! Thank you for reminding me of it. Andy
ReplyDeleteI love it! Too cute!
