UK Bloggers Meet Up in Bath with Sharon Boggon!

What fun we had on Saturday! Six of us of us traveled, from North, South, East and West to meet up with Sharon b in the beautiful city of Bath. Now, I know many of you are followers of Sharon's wonderful blog Pintangle, and will know that she and her husband Jerry are currently on their 'Trip of Lifetime'. We were all delighted  be included on her itinerary!

I was thrilled to have the chance to meet Sharon. She's smashing and great fun! Pintangle and Stitchin' Fingers were a revelation to me when I found myself isolated with a new life, job and location; through them I found a wealth of information, a wonderful on-line community,  and like-minded friends. Sharon said that when she started blogging, she was thinking about linking up women in  isolated small towns in Australia, but it's turned into a global stitching community! Well, through that community,  I also had the chance to meet five more lovely ladies, in person.

Well, we'd planned to have tea, cake and chat before visiting the famous Museum of Costume,  but things didn't go quite as expected. Bath's always a popular tourist destination,  but it was heaving! Queues of tourists everywhere -  and none of the cafes could accommodate 7 of us. After about 40 minutes  trying and waiting, Kira cleverly managed to get us a tiny table in the 'Slug and Lettuce',  and we all squeezed in!

Having a great time - Sharon, Andy, Marion, Lisa,  Kira and Rachel (see that beautiful embroidered skirt!)

We ordered tea and desserts, which came on huge crockery, and we ended up stacking our plates on top of the cups and saucers to make enough room.  The was much hilarity, and the waitresses certainly won't forget us in a hurry! We never managed to get to the museum, but had a wonderful time, with lots of chat and much, much laughter. It was a fabulous afternoon.

As we weren't able to see much more of Bath,  I'll be looking forward to seeing the photographs Jerry took while we were drinking tea and giggling! Hopefully, there will be some over at Tones and Tints soon.

Do check out Kira's wonderful blog, and the fabulous fine needlework of my online friend Rachel, at Virtuosew Adventures

Thanks so much to everyone for coming, and to Sharon and Jerry for including us on their wonderful trip!x

  9. There is nothing to compare to meeting in person, those you have come to know in an online stitching group.
Friendships made can be for a lifetime. There is always laughter and I'm not a bit surprised the staff would not forget the gathering. They would probably hover in case they missed something.
What fun to be so many around the table, juggling platters etc.,

Thank you Jules for the photo, links and blog.
