TAST Begins! 'I Wish I could Fly'

Here we go with TAST 2012!

Week 1  is Fly stitch. I decided to do a bit of freehand doodling first using some pretty variegated  stranded cotton and cotton perle to get me in the mood and see what fun was to be had experimenting.

I liked the idea of creating a picture with  just one stitch, so  I've decided I am  going to try and make some kind of pictorial representation each time.  It remains to be seen how possible that is!
I think  it may be a bit of a challenge!

  1. Oh Jules your dandelion is outstanding. A truly beautiful way to use fly stitch.

  2. Brilliant idea! I'm aiming for the same sort of thing - doing a small pic using mostly, if not exclusively, the relevant TAST stitch. This time it will be mostly fly stitch and variations thereof with a few bits of ribbon work to provide flower heads....

Should be able to get it done soon, IF I can persuade my lumpish self to get on with anything.... Send motivation express, will you?=)

  14. I love the dandelion - you have captured it perfectly!

I thought towards the end of practicing that the fly stitches looked like dandelion seeds but couldn't envisage the dandelion clock itself.

  17. I like all your versions. We tend to forget that Fly is not just the single detached one
or, linked, is like feather stitch. You have reminded me of other ways.
I too like to try using one stitch as you have for your beautiful dandelion.
My original Fly example is at

    I really enjoyed that one.
