Hexie T shirt re-vamp!
I've been playing around with some lovely fabrics, 'Happy Go Lucky' by Moda, for a new design. When I went out to collect my washing from the line yesterday, I breathed in the lovely sunshiny, windy smell - and then looked down to see the huge stain on one of my favourite t shirt tops had still not come out, after my repeated attempts to remove it. Sadly, I put it down on a chair next to my sewing unit, ready to pack in the recycling bag. Then I suddenly realised how the colours of the hexies sang out against the brown fabric!
I decided to cover up my stain - nothing ventured, nothing gained! So, I sorted out the hexie which looked best, and appliqued it to the top with my new Superior threads - (which are fantastic by the way.) Then I added a little curvy chain stitch stem free hand. It wasn't intentional, but it does look like the letter 'J' for Jules. The top looks really nice on - but I couldn't manage to take a photo of myself.
When himself got home, he said, 'You look smart'!
Serendipity, I think, plus I feel like I have a brand new t shirt!x

ReplyDeleteHimself is right.
Good idea, well done!
ReplyDeleteOf course, you could have had Himself take the photo of you in it...=)
your hexies have worked so well on the tee shirt, can see you doing this on more of your tops, maybe bottoms as well
ReplyDeleteI think this shirt looks really good now. Has personality! Good job girlfriend.

Great save for your shirt! I love the "J". Nice job with your stitching on t-shirt fabric, it can be tricky!
ReplyDeleteNot only that, but a reminder that there is more than one way to rescue a beloved garment!
ReplyDeleteOh wow! Thank you thank you so much for sharing these beautiful photos
